Q: What will a low-cost website cost?
A: Basic cost is £400 for a no-frills, four page site
Q: How much does it cost for extra pages?
A: For each page over the four we charge £40.
Q: Can I have pictures?
A: Yes, you can have as many pictures as you need.
Q: What if the pictures I have are not very good, or are too large?
A: We will process your images for the web. This includes retouching dirty pictures, sizing to optimum web standard and any other adjustments and enhancements we decide are necessary, we charge an extra £5 per picture used which includes all necessary work.
Q: Are there any other extras?
A: There's a charge for registering a domain name which varies depending on the name you choose - .com are more expensive than .co.uk. The usual is to pay for two years, although you can pay just one year if you prefer. Prices range from £10 a year to £25 a year.
Q: How much does the web hosting cost and can you arrange it?
A: We can arrange hosting at very competitive rates - £35 a year for basic hosting, a little more if you require a database and/or other extras.
Q: What if my text isn't very good?
A: We will brush up your text, edit and proofread and, if necessary, rewrite [with your approval] so that your website speaks clearly and conveys your business message in the best possible way. A small charge is made based on the amount of text and work involved.
Q: How do I let people know about my site?
A: We publicise your site with all the major search engines for no extra cost so that people can find you even if they have never heard of you. We will also place a link to your site in our links page. On top of that, you can let people know your URL in emails and publicity material whether online or printed - leaflets, poster, flyers, local press advertising/advertorials. Just give us a list of words and phrases that best describe your area of expertise, and we will do the rest.
Q: What if I change my mind later on and want something different?
A: No problem, we will redesign or upgrade your site at any time for a very reasonable fee.
Q: Will I be able to sell things from the site.
A: To sell from a website you need it to be enabled for e-commerce. We can arrange this with the ISP, prices on request. For now, our low-cost websites are for publicity and contact purposes, rather than for selling from. We can give you a Paypal link at no extra cost for basic sales.
Q: What else can I do to increase traffic to my site?
A: One of the best ways of getting more traffic is to have plenty of incoming links - other websites with links to your low-cost website. Many sites are happy to exchange links, called reciprocal linking. For this reason it is a good idea to have a links page where you can place all links out to other sites. You can also book ads with Google and other agencies, or enter into arrangements with other sites to pay them for displaying your banners. We will advise on this, and can even create your banners for really affordable prices.
